Matthias Gelber

Matthias Gelber, widely known as the GreenMan, is a seasoned environmental expert, keynote speaker, and trainer with over 30 years of international experience in sustainability and ESG. Originally from Germany, he is deeply passionate about aligning environmental responsibility with economic performance, guiding organizations toward resilient, low-carbon futures.

In 2008, Matthias was voted the “Greenest Person on the Planet” by 3rd Whale (Canada) and has remained a driving force in global green advocacy ever since. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science with Management and Legislation from Brunel University, UK.

He has delivered training and talks in over 40 countries, working with corporations, governments, and institutions to integrate ESG into core strategy and practice. His engagements include collaborations with BSI, DTI, Heidelberg Printing Machines, the Asian Development Bank, and the Philippine Stock Exchange. Matthias also cofounded Maleki GmbH, a German company that produces low-carbon building materials for sustainable construction.

His practical green initiatives include building Southeast Asia’s first off-grid mobile eco-home, promoting green mobility, and investing in biodiverse forest plantations as part of long-term carbon sequestration projects.

Matthias is the creator of the Certified ESG Innovator Program, developed through the ESG Innovation Hub. This program equips leaders with hands-on tools to drive NetZero transitions and ESG transformation across sectors.

He lives by the values he teaches. Now based in the Philippines with his family, Matthias continues to champion sustainable living, meaningful community
impact, and corporate responsibility.

As author of The Green Man’s Guide to Green Living and Working, he offers
practical guidance to reduce environmental footprints at home and at work—
empowering individuals and organizations to take science-based, impactful
climate action.
